use data from the Get with the Guidelines (GWTG)–Resuscitation registry of in-hospital cardiac arrests in their study of trends in rates of survival to hospital discharge. It is likely that hospitals participating in the GWTG–Resuscitation registry have good quality-improvement programs in place. Thus, their data may not truly reflect outcomes of cardiac arrest in the community. Examination of other large administrative databases

may provide data that complement data obtained by the investigators and offer opportunities for research and quality improvement.
