Abstract

The newly published Third Report of the National Cholesterol Education Program Expert Panel on Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Cholesterol in Adults is expected to significantly increase the number of Americans being treated for hypercholesterolemia. This article reviews the most important changes in these new guidelines, including the revised recommendations for risk assessment. (Part 2 of 2)
