Abstract
Two endourologic cases are presented in which the ACMI distal ureteroscope was used in nephrostolithotripsy, thus avoiding a secondary puncture of the collecting system. Limitations of rigid nephroscopes are discussed, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of flexible instruments. The distal ureteroscope offers the better optics of a rigid instrument, and its use in many cases will avoid extra punctures in treating staghorn or other complicated urinary stones. © 1988, Mary Ann Liebert, Inc.
