Abstract
Management of inherited retinal disease (IRD) with vitreoretinal interventions remains poorly understood in terms of intervention types and frequencies. We investigated vitreoretinal procedures performed in patients with IRD in the setting of a tertiary hospital. Interventions consisted primarily of anti-VEGF injection for choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in the macular dystrophy group (47 of 134 eyes; 35.1%), gene therapy for photoreceptor disease (27 of 134 eyes; 20.1%), and scleral buckle and/or vitrectomy for RRD (12 of 134 eyes; 9.0%) for vitreoretinopathy and XLRS cases. Vitreoretinal intervention was infrequently required for IRD management, but certain IRD subtypes had a high treatment burden.
