Abstract
The busiest of all carpenter cells in the body live in the lamina propria of the vocal folds, directly under the skin. The greatest concentration of these cells is at the end points of the vocal ligament, where vibration is minimal. In shape, they appear star-like, hence they are called stellate cells.
