Abstract
Titze reports on a research project at the National Center for Voice and Speech, a division of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, that is examining the vocal behavior of public school teachers over a 10-year period. He notes that researchers expect to recommend that teachers carry out more dialogue with students rather than engaging in a perpetual monologue. The most logical solution to overuse of the voice among teachers is knowing one's limit to vibrational exposure. Singing teachers are advised to keep a log of vocal doses and recovery times for rehearsals and performances.
