Abstract
AbstractIn Progymnasmata 45.9-21, Nicolaus the Sophist uses the Christian word παιδοφόρος (“boy-corrupter”) in its typically Christian pairing with µοιχός (“adulterer”) to express what seems to be a Christian sentiment about avoiding detailed discussion of wicked acts. This suggests that he was a Christian, a possibility that previous scholars have considered but were unable to find evidence for.
