- Description other
- From the liner notes: [Pierre Jalbert] This recording is the result of many musical relationships and collaborations over the last decade and more, including a recent partnership with Kinetic, leading to projects with Musiqa and Noble Motion Dance. All these organizations reside in my hometown of Houston. My connection with the Maia Quartet goes back to my student days at Oberlin, where Elizabeth Oakes and I were friends, which led to several projects with the quartet, including my 3rd string quartet. My career at Rice University began in 1996, so there is a deep bond with music director and conductor Larry Rachleff and the orchestra. All the works on this disc are premiere recordings, and I am grateful to the musicians involved.
