Abstract
Civil Engineering Tools: Concepts, Applications, and Question Bank is an Open Educational Resource (OER) designed for undergraduate and graduate students, educators, and early-career professionals in civil engineering and related disciplines. This resource introduces essential software tools and methodologies used in civil engineering practice, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Mathcad, Microsoft Excel, and Generative AI technologies. Each chapter explains the foundational concepts, practical use cases, and workflows associated with these tools, supplemented by a curated question bank to reinforce learning and support exam preparation. The OER aims to bridge theory with application, fostering skill development in digital design, data analysis, GIS, simulation, and engineering computation. All content is openly licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution - Non Commercial 4.0 International License, promoting accessibility and adaptation for diverse educational contexts.

- This book was developed with the assistance of artificial intelligence, using OpenAI’s GPT-4o model. We employed a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architecture to ensure the content reflects accurate, context-specific knowledge. Much of the material was sourced from the Educational AI Hub, a tool we designed, developed, and deployed specifically for this course, to integrate curated data and enhance learning outcomes. This collaborative approach allowed us to streamline content creation while maintaining clarity, relevance, and instructional value.
