Land Use Alternatives for the Iowa City Landfill Site

As mandated under Subtitle D [Subpart F] of the EPA's Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, municipalities across the country are required to provide land use plans following closure for all solid waste landfill units. In accordance with the objectives of Subtitle D and in cooperation with the City of Iowa City, our filed problems group has completed a study of land use options following closure for Iowa City's municipal landfill. This study is a report of our findings and is intended to provide the City with enough information to make an informed decision regarding land uses after closure for its landfill, and/or serve as a guide which may be updated as technical work progresses.
