Abstract
Background:
Nationwide opioid deaths have increased rapidly since the mid 1990’s Over the last decade they have begun to rise in Iowa as well. Currently opioid related deaths are up 250% from 10 years ago, growing at three times the national pace. This has been a problem across the spectrum in Iowa, occurring in urban, suburban, and rural places. Overdoses are also occurring across the socioeconomic spectrum.
