Abstract
The ability to understand speech-in-noise is critical for everyday communication. There is persistent variability across listeners and there are no therapeutic methods established to help individuals who struggle to understand speech-in-noise. Conventional hearing remediations through amplification (i.e., hearing aids) do not improve speech-in-noise perception. Perceptual training has been suggested to improve speech-in-noise perception. However, a dearth of information exists regarding its efficacy and mediating biological mechanisms. This study hopes to validate the feasibility of perceptual training to improve speech-in-noise perception as well as investigate individual differences in the effect of training.
