Research Interests:

  • Trauma; child abuse and neglect; social work education.

Professor Coohey has over 25 years of experience directing and evaluating community-based programs, validating assessment tools, and researching the relationship between childhood adversity and negative academic and behavioral outcomes among children and adults. Her most recent research has focused on protective factors that moderate the relationship between child maltreatment and variety of adverse outcomes, especially mental health challenges among adolescents and adults.
