Biography and Expertise
Jacqueline A. Clauss, MD, PhD, is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She is a board-certified adult, child, and adolescent psychiatrist and psychiatric neuroscientist who leads the PRECISION Lab.
Dr. Clauss’s research seeks to understand why psychiatric symptoms emerge and follow different courses across adolescence and young adulthood. Her work focuses on clinical high risk for psychosis and early psychosis, integrating longitudinal neuroimaging, intensive clinical assessments, sleep and digital phenotyping, and electronic health record data to identify individualized markers of risk and resilience. Her goal is to improve early identification and develop more personalized, effective interventions for young people experiencing emerging serious mental illness.
Dr. Clauss is also the Program Director and Medical Director of Iowa CONNECT, a SAMHSA-funded initiative developing coordinated clinical and research services for youth and young adults at risk for psychosis. Iowa CONNECT expands access to evidence-based assessment, early intervention, family support, and care coordination across Iowa.
She collaborates with colleagues across psychiatry, neuroscience, engineering, and data science.
