A structure theory for isometric representations of a class of semigroups

Abstract
Using Mackey's theory of systems of imprimitivity, we develop a structure theory for isometric representations of subsemigroups of the nonnegative real numbers. This structure theory extends the well known results of Helson and Lowdenslager concerning those isometric representations of the nonnegative real numbers which arise naturally in the study of stationary stochastic processes and prediction theory. © 1972, Walter de Gruyter.
