Abstract

Associated with a homeomorphism t of a locally compact Hausdorff space X is a subalgebra U (t, X) of the transformation group C*-algebra determined by t. As shown by Arveson and Josephson in [1], U(t, X) frequently constitutes a complete set of conjugacy invariants for t. Addressing a question raised by them, we give conditions under with U(t, X) will be semi-simple. We also show that U(t,X) need not be semi-simple and we compute the radical in a special case.
