Biography and Expertise

Aislinn Conrad, LMSW, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Social Work. Dr. Conrad investigates the social determinants of child maltreatment, including household economic hardship. At present, she is evaluating the Safe Babies Court Team, an innovative approach to supporting infants and toddlers at risk for child welfare involvement. Past projects include linking household economic hardship (bill/food/housing insecurity) to child abuse, and validating the Spanish version of the Protective Factors Survey. Before her appointment at the University of Iowa, Dr. Conrad served as an early childhood coordinator, a case manager for children in the foster care system, and a social worker investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect.
