Biography and Expertise

  • Keri Hornbuckle is a University of Iowa Distinguished Chair and Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering. She is a Research Engineer at IIHR-Hydroscience & Engineering, holds a secondary appointment as Professor of Occupational and Environmental Health, is a full member of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center on Cancer Epidemiology and Population Science (CEPS) Program, and serves as on the faculty of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Human Toxicology, all at the University of Iowa. She is the Director of the Iowa Superfund Research Program (ISRP), a P42 multi-project interdisciplinary research center funded by the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS/NIH) and titled “Sources, Exposures, Toxicities, and Remediation of Airborne PCBs.” She has served on the Science Advisory Board of the International Joint Commission; the Environmental Laboratory Advisory Board (ELAB)- a standing Federal Advisory Committee Act board that advises the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; and the Advisory Boards of Superfund Research Program Centers in Texas, New Mexico, and California. In addition to the ISRP, Hornbuckle’s research is funded by the U.S. EPA, and the National Science Foundation. Prof. Hornbuckle is a past President of the International Association for Great Lakes Research and is Associate Editor of two American Chemical Society journals: Environmental Science & Technology and ACS Environmental AU.
