Biography and Expertise

Philip Combiths is director of the Clinical Linguistics and Disparities Lab where he investigates multilingualism and health disparities in speech-language pathology, phonological development, and assessment and treatment for children with speech sound disorders. He teaches courses related to phonetics, phonology, phonological assessment, speech sound disorders, and multilingualism. He received a Ph.D. in Language and Communicative Disorders from the University of California, San Diego and San Diego State University and an M.A. in Spanish Linguistics from the Complutense Universidad in Madrid. He is also a licensed speech-language pathologist.
